Jody...
As you know I don't respond to all the emails that you send me. It's not that I don't appreciate hearing from you or receiving what you send. Of course some things are of greater importance than others and one of the more important emails was the one about the Pumpkin.
Yesterday I was visiting a lady who has only days --- if not hours --- left in this life. As I was praying and talking with her....(she can only say a faint phrase at a time in response)...I shared with her the story that I intend to tell the children in church this coming Sunday (as it follows Halloween)....about the Christian being like a Pumpkin.
As I told her the story her family....husband, daughter and two sons were in the room with us. I concluded by reminding her that she was like the pumpkin. God had washed her all clean, taken away all the yucky stuff --- seeds of doubt, hate, greed, all the negative things --- from inside her and had placed a smile on her face and a light within her that had shone all through her life and touched so many many people with light and warmth. That was why she had those around her today, her family and friends who cared.
She was so overcome with emotion that tears flowed down her cheeks, she placed her feeble hand over her mouth. Her son said --- "What a wonderful tribute to you Mom". As I was leaving, her eldest son said to me, "I would like you to tell that story again in a weeks time" (meaning of course at her funeral).
Thank you Jody for helping me minister to this elderly lady during the final stages of her life on earth.
Rev.

Hi Rev.
I really don't know what I did. But after all you have done for me. By always being there to listen and not judge me. By caring and being my true friend. What ever little thing I can do for you especially or something to help others. I indeed want to be able to do it. I will say a prayer for that dear lady today. Please tell her a stranger is praying for her.
Thank You,

If we are going to reach our potential, we must stay strong in our faith with patience and persevering. So many times I have been asked; Evelyn why do you keep doing what you do? It's not easy, but the word QUIT is not in the Bible. Therefore we must strive to keep on keeping on.
I will tell you a part of one of my recent experience's. This lady cried out to me to help heal the pain and hurt she felt within her. It's a long story, but just the That I took to listen, I could in her eyes that he began to relax. She felt that only was she put out on her own with three children. She also felt that her entire family had turned against. In three short weeks after getting her in a safe shelter, she reunited with her family. The Mother & Father all the siblings, even her ninety year old Grandmother attended church on Sunday and after church went out to eat. After eating went to a park and spent quality time together. The family has come together buying furnishings and she will be in her new place any day now. When this lady walked up to me and give me a hug, I knew without a doubt why God led me down this path. When she so proudly showed me the pictures from the family gathering. That was the icing on the cake.
God does work in mysterious ways his miracles to perform. I went to bed night before last feeling a bit blue, which is rare for me. Yesterday Morning I received a phone. A friend and Prayer warrior of mine went into the McDonald's here in the Walmart Super Center for breakfast. When he got home he called to tell me that the manager of Mc,Donald's wanted me to call her and he felt I could help here.
I called her never suspecting that she wanted me to do a book signing 11/20/2003 from 11 until 2. Mc'Donald's is doing a benefit for the Ronald Mc'Donald house.
This could have only happened through the support of every one of you that is on my mailing list. Plus all the time you my friends has spent writing to book stores, signing my guest book. My dear friend's we serve an awesome God. All this is coming full circle because of your prayers and many others.
I been told the hardest thing a person can do is get published. It took me ten years from the time I started writing. This morning I were thinking about the movie of Margaret Mitchell and what she went through to write gone with the wind. We never stop believing and most of all we never quit. Winners never Quit and Quitter's never win.
I know some of you are in the area, if you stop by Super Center while I am there, would be great.
Keep me reverently in your prayers that I can keep on reaching those that is hurting and give the feeling is that someone really care. Because I do care. I have walked in the same shoes for many years. Only through God can we survive.

NEVER TOO OLD
"So here I [Caleb] am today, eighty-five years old! I am
still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I'm
just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then. 12
Now give me this hill country that the LORD promised me
that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were
there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the
LORD helping me, I will drive them out just as he said"
(Joshua 14:10-12, NIV).
Emerson produced English Traits when he was 53 and Conduct
of Life at 59.
Kent wrote his Anthropology, Metaphysics of Ethics, and
Strife of the Faculties. at age 74.
Oliver Wendell Holmes at 79 wrote Over the Teacups.
Victor Hugo wrote Les Miserables at 62.
Booth Tarkington wrote sixteen novels after age 60, some of
them when he was totally blind.
George Bernard Shaw wrote some of his famous plays at 80.
Scott the commentator began study of Hebrew at 87.
Jules Verne was writing his stories at 63.
Croce the Italian philosopher published two of his works on
philosophy at age 85.

And Webster wrote his monumental dictionary at 70.¹
In God's economy we are never too old to serve God and to
be a part of God's plans and what he is doing in the world
today... even if we are sick and infirm, we can still be
mighty prayer warriors. All we need to do is make ourselves
available.
Suggested prayer: "Dear God, thank you that in the work of
your Kingdom on earth I will never be too old to serve you.
Please let me know what my 'marching orders' are for
today--and for every day for the rest of my life. Thank you
for hearing and answering my prayer and for using me.
Gratefully, in Jesus' name, amen."

(((((((( Jodie )))))))) absolutely wonderful ! Resigning here to!! ... I want to do all those things .... plus have midnight feasts on the lawn with my friends while telling ghost stories and screaming for my mom because I got scared lol ... and I want to swing from the oak tree in our garden and imagine I am touching heaven with my feet ... and also to sit on the worktop in my mom's kitchen as she bakes a yummy triple choc cake lol. If only we could bring back days past when all was so mellow and families were all together. However, the goodness of God is that he gave us these memories before he called our loved ones home and he helps us to put the same in place for our kids to. Bright blessings dear friend and thank you for this oh so light moment of memories from the past.
Love and hugs

Roses for You
A little boy was selling newspapers on the corner, where people were in and out of the cold. The little boy was so cold that he wasn't trying to sell many papers. He walked up to a policeman and said,
"Mister, you wouldn't happen to know where a poor boy could find a warm place to sleep tonight would you? You see, I sleep in a box up around the corner there and down the alley and it's awful cold in there for tonight. Sure would be nice to have a warm place to stay."
The policeman looked down at the little boy and said, "you go down the street to that big white house and you knock on the door. When they come out the door you just say John 3:16, and they will let you in." So he did. He walked up the steps and knocked on the door, and a lady answered. He looked up and said, "John 3:16." The lady said, "Come on in, Son." She took him in and she sat him down in a split bottom rocker in front of a great big old fireplace, and she went off. The boy sat there for a while and thought to himself: John 3:16...I don't understand it, but it sure makes a cold boy warm.
Later she came back and asked him "Are you hungry?" He said, "Well, just a little. I haven't eaten in a couple of days, and I guess I could stand a little bit of food," The lady took him in the kitchen and sat him down to a table full of wonderful food. He ate and ate until he couldn't eat any more. Then he thought to himself: John 3:16...Boy, I sure don't understand it but it sure makes a hungry boy full.
She took him upstairs to a bathroom to a huge bathtub filled with warm water, and he sat there and soaked for a while. As he soaked, he thought
to himself: John 3:16... I sure don't understand it, but it sure makes a dirty boy clean. You know, I've not had a bath, a real bath, in my whole life. The
only bath I ever had was when I stood in front of that big old fire hydrant as they flushed it out.The lady came in and got him. She took him to a room, tucked him into a big old feather bed, pulled the covers up around his neck, kissed him goodnight
and turned out the lights. As he lay in the darkness and looked out the window at the snow coming down on that cold night, he thought to himself: John 3:16...I don't understand it but it sure makes a tired boy rested.
The next morning the lady came back up and took him down again to that same big table full of food. After he ate, she took him back to that same
big old split bottom rocker in front of the fireplace and picked up a big old Bible. She sat down in front of him and looked into his young face. "Do you understand John 3:16?" she asked gently. He replied, "No, Ma'am, I don't. The first time
I ever heard it was last night when the policeman told me to use it," She opened the Bible to John 3:16 and began to explain to him about Jesus. Right there, in front of that big old fireplace, he gave his heart and life to Jesus. He sat there and thought:
John 3:16....don't understand it, but it sure makes a lost boy feel safe. You know, I have to confess I don't understand it either, how God was willing to send His Son to die for me, and how Jesus would agree to do such a thing. I don't understand the agony of the Father and every angel in heaven as they watched Jesus suffer and die. I don't
understand the intense love for ME that kept Jesus on the cross till the end. I don't understand it, but it sure does make life worth living. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
If you aren't ashamed to do this, please follow the directions. Jesus said, "If you are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you before my Father." Pass this on only if you mean it.
I do Love God. He is my source of existence. He keeps me functioning each and every day. Phil 4:13 If you love God and are not ashamed of all the marvelous things he has done for you, send this on. Take 60 seconds & give this a shot! Let's just see if Satan stops this one. All you do is: Simply say a small prayer for the person who sent you this, "Father, God bless this person in whatever it is that You know he or she may be needing this day!"

Dear Jodie
I am so sad to read that things in the family are still not good for you. You are such a loving soul and this is their loss, that you can still feel for them after all you have suffered is a credit to your ability to love them because of your huge heart that just wants everything to be right and good for all. You are so blessed, your spirit remains ever hopeful and willing to enfold them all in your heart despite everything. My prayers are that you will feel the love and care of close family bonds again but even if this does not happen I feel sure that you will always be there for anyone who needs you. I would feel very proud to have a daughter like you, I have two lovely girls who have remained close by my side their whole young lives and I know the pride I feel in their beautiful souls, so your mother is truly missing the bond of one so caring as you. I am always here if you need an ear to listen or a shoulder to lean on in times of mortal frailty, which heaven only knows you must feel at times.
Could you thank Kim and Zee for their caring mails and give my many best wishes to all the group. I have to wait for 3 weeks before a bone biopsy will show if the experimental treatment I had worked, but I feel very positive as my heart has stayed stable throughout the last 2 treatments, which is amazing as far as the doctors were concerned. My sister has been like an earth angel and I am very blessed to have her, she has kept the whole family in positive mode, which has helped me no end. I have also been very humbled to know that so many have cared and sent mails. Maria has,nt been able to answer all as she works ten hours a day for the goverment but both she and I are so grateful to all.
Bless you dear Jodie, may angels wrap you and your dear husband and your darling babies in warmth, love and care always.

Barbara x PS. please Jodie, do take some quality time out for you dear as it is easy to become overtired as you take on board others sufferings. I am sure everyone would agree with me on this as it would be awful if your health suffered from looking out to much for us and not giving yourself rest time with the family. Bright blessings xxx
